2013 Quintessence Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Quintessence Vineyard creates the eastern border of the Red Mountain AVA, and provides fruit with impressive quality and concentration. Aromatics of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis lift from the glass, punctuated by savory spices and brown sugar tones. On the palate, these are joined by cassis, dark fruits, sweet tobacco, cola, and caramel tones. The mouthfeel is soft and earthy, with rounded, elegant tannins, and a lingering finish. Drink now through 2025.
91 Points, Wine Advocate
Offering lots of plum, cassis, licorice and vanilla characteristics, with a touch of volatility, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Quintessence Vineyard is medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and focused on the palate. There’s a pretty elegance here and while it walks a fine line on the volatile spectrum, I love its texture and purity on the palate. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was aged in 80% new French and 20% new American oak, it should drink nicely for upwards of a decade.
