2016 Old Vines Merlot
In the 2015 vintage, Charlie was first lucky enough to access the “Old Block” in Kiona Vineyard: vines that were planted in 1975 by the Williams family. Paying tribute to the founders of Red Mountain, he blended this Merlot with vines of the same age, planted across the street (or, dirt road at the time) by Jim Holmes at Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. Now in its second vintage, we continue to admire the intensity and depth that comes from Old Vines fruit. Less fruit driven than most Red Mountain wines, we find an Old World characteristic that showcases notes of dusty earth, dried fruit tones, and a hint of cocoa. Drink now through 2027.
