2018 Red Mountain Malbec
It’s always fun to release Malbec as the first wine of the year and first of a new vintage. We’ve found that Malbec can vary quite a bit from vintage to vintage and it can give us a good idea as to what we can expect for the rest of the reds that year. With 2018 having a warm summer but having a long, cool, drawn-out ripening window these wines are going to be well balanced, fruit forward and delicious, and a little softer on the tannic structure than usual. “It’s definitely a spicier, earthier Malbec than some we’ve seen in warmer recent vintages,” Will notes. We’re getting aromas of white pepper and purple fruit tones, along with a plush and round palate and long, smooth finish. Drink now through 2028.
