2013 Optu Red Mountain

2013 Optu Red Mountain

93 Points, Wine Advocate

The 2013 Optu (73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and the rest 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot) is a rich, plum, chocolaty and lavender scented 2013 that has way more fruit and texture than most in the vintage. Showing more classic Red Mountain graphite and minerality with time in the glass, this full-scale, pedal to the metal effort has a big mid-palate, no hard edges and can be drunk today or cellared for a decade.

Optu Red Mountain is a composition of our favorite vineyard and varietals in each growing season. The 2013 vintage is predominately Cabernet Sauvignon, which brings forth aromas of bing cherry and raspberry. The palate offers concentrated blackberry, plum, violets and a slight minerality, all balanced with full, chewy tannins and a lengthy finish. This cellar star will easily age through 2025.

Owned and run by Charlie Hoppes, Fidelitas's 2013s were fabulous across the board, and this estate deserves more attention in the market. - Jeb Dunnuck (March, 2016)
