2014 Quintessence Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
94 Points, The Wine Advocate
"A great vintage for this cuvee (and the estate), the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Quintessence Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) sports a deep purple/ruby-tinged color to go with pure, classic notes of crème de cassis, licorice, tobacco leaf and chocolate. Layered, sweetly fruited and gorgeously pure, drink this hedonistic fruit bomb over the coming decade." - Jeb Dunnuck
Quintessence Vineyard, on the northeastern edge of the Red Mountain AVA, provides us with the unique 191 and 169 clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, adding a more old-world style to the wine. Dark fruit aromas of plum, blackberry, and black cherry are complimented by herbal notes of dried sage, green olive, and dark chocolate. We find earthy tones and dark berries on the palate, along with brown sugar and toasted almonds, firm tannins, and a lengthy finish. Drink now through 2025.
