2021 The Canyons Vineyard Malbec
300 cases made
Our Canyons Vineyard Malbec, sourced entirely from one 1.25 acre block, is bottled on its own every other year or so in especially exceptional vintages. These Malbec vines sit (hold on for dear life) on one of the most extreme growing sites that we work with. The rows are planted on a 45 degree Southern-facing slope where they receive tons of heat and strong winds that constantly blow through the narrow canyon during the peak of the growing season when the day-night temperature swings are at their highest. This wine is already open and tasting great. Jumping out of the glass we get sweet tobacco, black cherry, olive, and wet rocks. The palate is rich but elegant, tons of ripe fruit — red plum, raspberry, and a classic white pepper Malbec finish. Drink now with a good 30+ minute decant or through 2035.
