2022 Ciel du Cheval Merlot
This is truly a special bottling from Fidélitas taking Charlie’s decades long passion for Washington Merlot and working with the oldest Merlot vines on Red Mountain planted in 1975 (42% of this wine comes from mid-70's plantings). As Charlie describes this wine “this is a beautiful example of what makes Washington Merlot unique and one of the best places in the world to grow this varietal.” On the aroma we loads of dark fruit—black plum, blueberry, and dusty earth. The palate is rich and balanced with great new oak integration—strawberry, vanilla bean, raspberry. Although a small production this wine was made blending 11 different micro-fermentations adding to the depth and complexity. Drink now with a good 45 minute decant or through 2035.
Aging: 18 months, 38% New French Oak, 14% New American Oak

2022 Ciel du Cheval Red Wine
This classic right-bank Bordeaux style blend showcases all the different varietals we source from the world class Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. We go with a Merlot dominant blend here since the Merlot from that vineyard is excellent quality and pushes the wine towards a more elegant style which is how the CDC wines tend to be when compared to the rest of our lineup. On the aroma we get baking spices, black currant, and strawberry. The wine hits all different parts of the palate with loads of complexity—Bing cherry, wet rocks, blackberry, and vanilla bean. This is a complex versatile food pairing wine or perfectly enjoyable on its own. Drink now witha good 45+ minute decant or through 2035.
Blend: 47% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot
Aging: 18 months, 47% New French Oak

2022 Ciel du Cheval Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet from Ciel du Cheval vineyard is our longest running single vineyard release with the first vintage produced in 2006. Over the years working with these blocks, including some of the original 1975 planting, we’ve tweaked our winemaking techniques, pick dates, and barrel aging and are extremely pleased with the quality and complexity we get year in and year out. On the aroma we get dried sage, dark chocolate, and cherry. The structure is highlighted by polished supple tannins on the midpalate and a fresh mouthwatering finish—black cherry, blackberry, and currant. It’s a perfect balance of Red Mountain power and concentration and old vine complexity. Drink now with a good 45 minute decant or through 2035.
Aging: 18 months, 70% New French Oak
